AC Milan have reportedly joined the race to sign Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey and will battle Italian champions Juventus for the midfielder’s signature next summer.
According to Tuttosport (h/t Lucas Sposito at Sport Witness), the Rossoneri have emerged as contenders to land the Wales international when his contract expires at the end of the season.
AC Milan recently brought former Arsenal chief executive Ivan Gazidis to the San Siro and believe he could be used to help tempt Ramsey into a move to the Serie A side.
Ramsey will be available on a free transfer in June after Arsenal withdrew their offer of a new four-year deal, per David Ornstein at BBC Sport.
The 27-year-old has said he will not look to leave in January and wants to see out his contract at the Emirates Stadium per Mattias Karen at ESPN FC.
The midfielder should not lack for offers as a free agent. He is an experienced international who has won three FA Cups during his time with the Gunners.
Ramsey brings drive to the midfield. He likes to push forward, get into dangerous positions and provides goals and assists.
The midfielder is said to be open to a move to Manchester United or Chelsea who are both keen on the midfielder, per according to Rob Dawson at ESPN FC.
Everton are also planning to offer him a five-year deal worth £150,000 a week, according to The Sun‘s Mike McGrath.
Ramsey may prefer to remain in the Premier League rather than move abroad particularly as he has a young family. He has recently celebrated the arrival of twins:
Aaron Ramsey @aaronramsey
The twins have finally arrived! Two beautiful boys 👶🏼👶🏼 Thank you for the kind messages @_C_Ramsey
If Ramsey was tempted to leave the Premier League, he will be able to negotiate a pre-contract with foreign clubs in January as he’ll be a free agent.
A move to Juventus will virtually guarantee silverware and UEFA Champions League football. Massimiliano Allegri’s side have won the title for the last seven seasons. They are already six points clear at the top of the table.
AC Milan are down in 10th and no longer a major European force. However, the club have new owners who will be hoping to turn around their fortunes and may be hoping Gazidis’ knowledge of Ramsey and Arsenal can give them an advantage.
