ARSENAL are officially the most ruthless team in front of goal EVER – but fans still think they are guilty of missing sitters this season.
According to the stats, the 2018-19 Gunners boast the best shot conversion record in history, better even than last year’s 100-point, 106-goal Manchester City squad.
This term, Arsenal have scored with 23.1 per cent of their shots, miles ahead of the champions’ 20.7 output, thanks to the likes of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette.
The Gunners have scored with 65 of their 281 shots – so while they are utterly lethal, they do take just nine shots per game.
Man City sit second AND third in the list of deadliest ever teams, with their 2013-14 title-winning squad finding the net with 20.1 per cent of their shots.
Liverpool’s current crop, consisting of the likes of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino, sit fourth – also on 20.1 per cent.
GUNNER GET BETTER
Chelsea complete the top five in the list – with their 2016-17 champions also racking up a 20.1 per cent clip.
Man Utd feature twice in the top ten, with Liverpool, Arsenal and Man City also featuring one additional time in the elite group of finishers.
Despite Arsenal’s phenomenal year in front of goal, not all fans seem convinced they’ve well and truly got their shooting boots on.
One supporter wrote: “My god – imagine if Aubameyang hadn’t missed that half-dozen or so absolute sitters!”
Another claimed: “This is so weird considering the chances Aubameyang and Lacazette has missed.”
A third wrote: “We’ve still missed a hatful of sitters between them as well, imagine what it could have been.
Arsenal next take to the pitch on Sunday, when they travel to Everton for the latest test in their race to finish in the top four.
