ARSENAL have been dealt yet another transfer blow after Medhi Benatia joined Qatari side Al Duhail today.
The Gunners had tried to lure the Juventus midfielder, 31, to the Emirates this month.
However, Benatia has joined the Middle Eastern side in a £7million deal – payable across two instalments.
Arsenal originally hoped to swap Benatia for Juve-bound Aaron Ramsey but failed in their pursuit.
Ramsey will now join the Serie A champions for free in the summer, when his contract expires.
Centre-back Benatia spent two years at Juventus having joined from Bayern Munich in 2017.
However, the 55-cap Morocco international only made 29 league appearances for the Italian giants and has now been allowed the leave.
Arsenal have failed in pursuits for Denis Suarez and Yannick Carrasco among others this month, as the club have no money for transfers, says Unai Emery,
However, the Gunners are eyeing a move for Napoli right-back Kevin Malcuit as a replacement for crocked Hector Bellerin, according to reports.
The Spaniard suffered a season-ending knee injury in the Gunners' 2-1 victory over Chelsea.
