Arsenal pair Rob Holding and Danny Welbeck team up to overcome long-term injuries

DANNY WELBECK took to Instagram to show himself supporting his fellow injured team-mate Rob Holding during a gruelling gym session.

The pair are expected to miss the rest of the season with ankle and knee problems respectively as they put the hours in on their long road back to recovery.

Welbeck broke his ankle in November during the Europa League clash against Sporting Lisbon at the Emirates.

While Holding ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament during the 2-2 draw away at Manchester United in December.

But they continue to have a smile on their face despite their long-term setbacks as shown by the clip posted on Welbeck's Instagram story.

The pair can be seen working out on exercise bikes with the ex-United striker shouting encouragement to the former Bolton defender, who can be seen pedalling furiously.

Welbeck said: "Go on Robbie, give it up son, come on Robbie! Go on son."

An exhausted Holding let out a relieved smile towards the end of the short video.

Both men were surprisingly named in Unai Emery's revised Europa League squad along with injured Hector Bellerin due to the Gunners not having enough homegrown players.

It is looking increasingly likely that Welbeck and Holding will not play in the same Arsenal side again with the former to become a free agent in the summer.
