Arsenal set Granit Xhaka's transfer price with Roma set to sign midfielder

Arsenal’s transfer plans for the summer are in full swing, and the Gunners are expected to continue offloading unwanted players.

Granit Xhaka is the next player set to leave the club after Mesut Ozil and Shkodran Mustafi left in January.

Reports suggest Willian and Hector Bellerin all also be allowed to depart the Emirates.

The Gunners are expected to offload players in order to fund new signings, and Football London claims Arsenal will demand a fee of £20million for Xhaka.

Roma are interested in signing him, with Jose Mourinho eager to bring him to Serie A.

Mourinho is set to take over at the Stadio Olimpico this summer and has been tipped to raid the Premier League to build his squad.

Roma are believed to be eager to wrap up a deal for the defensive midfielder before he jets off to join up with the Switzerland team for Euro 2020.

Mourinho is yet to make any signings at Roma, and Xhaka could be the first new player through the door.

Speaking about Xhaka in 2019, Mourinho said: “Xhaka is the main man in the entire Arsenal midfield, you can’t see it unless I lend you one of my eyes.

“Without him, Arsenal is lost. He is a leader. Remember, mistakes are made by humans.”

Xhaka still has two years to run on his contract at Arsenal, but doesn’t seem to have much of a future at the club.

He started just one of Arsenal’s last four Premier League matches, and it seems Arteta is ready to move on without him as he continues to rebuild his squad.

Arsenal are keen on signing Emi Buendia from Norwich, but will likely have to fork out £40m for the attacker.

He’s being viewed as a cheaper alternative to Martin Odegaard, who seems set to return to Real Madrid and stay, despite Zinedine Zidane’s departure.

Odegaard had been tipped to sign for Arsenal on a permanent deal, but it now seems he will fight for a place in the team at the Bernabeu.
