ARSENE WENGER had picked out Carlo Ancelotti to replace him at Arsenal and not Unai Emery, according to reports.
The Frenchman finally departed the Gunners hotseat at the end of last season after 22 years in charge.

Emery, then in charge of Paris Saint-Germain, was the somewhat surprise choice to take over at the Emirates.
And it may never have happened had Wenger had his way.
That is according to Italian journalist Ciro Venerato, who says Wenger had hinted to the Arsenal board who he wanted to get the job.
Talking about Arsenal's upcoming Europa League clash against Napoli – who Ancelotti now manages – Venerato revealed what could have happened.
He said: "I'll tell you a behind-the-scenes story dating back to last summer when Arsene Wenger indicated Carlo Ancelotti as his possible heir and successor on the Arsenal bench.
"Carlo Ancelotti, as you know, has a Canadian wife and the whole family lives in London.
"He was interested.
"Arsenal then chose Unai Emery and at that point Carlo Ancelotti signed for Napoli, but he did not forget that Arsenal rejected him."
