Aston Villa favourites to seal £30m Arsenal transfer and complete triple deal

[ad_1]

Aston Villa’s summer transfer window is set to be a busy one.

Dean Smith’s side have already added Emiliano Buendia to their ranks in a club-record deal from Norwich City.

Shortly after, Ashley Young returned to Villa Park a decade after leaving the Second City for Manchester United.

Buendia will bolster Villa’s attack and ease the burden on captain Jack Grealish to be Smith’s primary creative outlet while Young brings experience at the highest level and a very recent taste of success having won Serie A with Inter Milan last season.

Villa are not done spending yet with a second bid submitted to Arsenal for their starlet Emile Smith Rowe.

They are also being linked with midfielders and another defender and goalkeeper could be on their way to mitigate for the departures of Bjorn Engels and Tom Heaton for Royal Antwerp and Manchester United respectively.

Bookmaker SkyBet, who sponsors the three football league divisions, have priced up the deals they think Villa could complete.

Some are very realistic like a move for James Ward-Prowse or Dwight McNeil while others, such as a potential arrival of Bernardo Silva, are not going to happen.

Here are the up-to-date odds from SkyBet…

James Ward-Prowse – 5/2 Villa favourites

Ward-Prowse is one of the latest names to be linked with Villa as Smith’s men look to add talent proven in England.

The Southampton free-kick specialist is 5/2 with SkyBet, making Villa favourites with Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United both in the running but at much longer odds.

Villa would be making a real statement of intent by landing Ward-Prowse but the player will cost a pretty penny.

He is under contract at St Mary’s until 2025.

Dwight McNeil – 3/1 Villa favourites

McNeil is expected to be hot property this summer having impressed for Burnley, who were recently taken over by an American consortium keen to back Turf Moor boss Sean Dyche in the transfer market.

Villa could do with reinforcements on the wing and reports have linked Smith’s side with a move for the former Man United youth.

He would be expensive and Burnley would be reluctant to sell to a team they would consider a direct rival, with the club’s new owners looking up the Premier League table after surviving relegation this season.

McNeil scored once and assisted another in a 3-2 defeat of Villa in January.

Emile Smith Rowe – 6/1 Villa favourites

Smith Rowe has ben linked with a move to Villa this summer.

Smith’s side saw a £25 million bid for the Arsenal starlet rejected and have tried again with a £30m move.

Smith Rowe is under conract until 2023 and Arsenal are keen to tie him down to a new deal.

The 20 year-old enjoyed a fine breakout season in 2020-21.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek – 7/2

Villa have been linked with a move for Loftus-Cheek again, with the Chelsea player looking certain to depart Stamford Bridge this summer and bookmaker SkyBet have him as second favourites to sign or Smith’s side.

Loftus-Cheek is returning to Chelsea after a loan spell with Fulham, his second stint away from his parent club, ended in relegation with Scott Parker’s side.

It is being claimed that Villa, who were credited with an interest with Loftus-Cheek last summer, want to sign him in a double swoop with former loanee Abraham.

Loftus-Cheek, 25, made 31 appearances for Fulham last season.

Tammy Abraham – 7/2

Abraham has been heavily linked with a move to Villa.

Reports in the national press claim the England international is a target for West Ham United and Villa.

Abraham looks set for an exit from Stamford Bridge having fallen out of favour with Thomas Tuchel, and the 23 year-old scored 26 goals for Villa while on loan for the 2018-19 season.

Curiously, Villa are behind Manchester United in the running with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side 11/4 to land Abraham.

Neco Williams – 9/2

Williams looks set to be sold by Liverpool this summer.

The Welsh international, a centre-back, is being linked with a move to Villa.

Williams is currently with Wales on international duty at the European Championships.

Liverpool will look to raise funds by selling the 20 year-old for around £10m.

Conor Gallagher – 7/1

Gallagher, like Pereira, was with West Brom last season but only on loan from Chelsea.

Gallagher impressed at times for Albion with the playmaker making the step up from the Championship last season, where he spent on loan at Charlton Athletic and Swansea City.

An attacking midfielder, Gallagher could be a good fit for Villa but is perhaps too inconsistent for the level Smith’s side are aiming at.

Reports in the national press have claimed that Gallagher is attracting interest from Crystal Palace.

Matheus Pereira – 7/1

Pereira looks set to depart West Bromwich Albion following their relegation from the Premier League

Pereira scored 11 times in the Premier League last season, registering six assists.

They are fine numbers in a struggling team and Villa fans have given Villa head coach Dean Smith and sporting director Johan Lange the green light for a deal.

Villa could sign a Premier League-ready attacker for a relatively modest fee in Pereira.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain – 8/1

Oxlade-Chamberlain is on the fringes at Liverpool, starting only twice in 12 games last season.

Under contract until 2023, the former Arsenal midfielder could be a player Liverpool look to sell this summer to raise funds for other transfers.

He remains keen to stay at Liverpool though, saying last month: “I’ve been kicking myself, trying to push and ask questions, but sometimes it doesn’t always go your way.

“The main thing is I stay focused. I’m absolutely delighted to be a part of this team and play for this football club, and that’s what I want to do.”

Odsonne Edouard – 8/1

Edouard has been heavily linked with a move to Villa as Celtic prepare to cash-in on their top asset.

The France Under-21 international has banged in the goals at Parkhead, netting 83 times in 168 appearances with 22 coming last season.

Edouard looks likely to reunite with…
