Former Arsenal midfielder Stewart Robson shares his thoughts on how Sampdoria’s Lucas Torreira would fit in at the Emirates.

Arsenal are poised to sign Lorient midfielder Matteo Guendouzi, sources close to the club told ESPN FC, with the Frenchman set to undergo a medical on Monday.

France Under-20 international Guendouzi is highly regarded in his homeland and has attracted the interest of a number of clubs across Europe.

The likes of Manchester City and Tottenham have been credited with interest in Guendouzi, but Arsenal have moved quickly to beat their rivals to the midfielder.

The 19-year-old Guendouzi broke into the Lorient side in the 2016-17 season, making nine appearances in Ligue 1, and he made 20 appearances last season.

Arsenal see Guendouzi as one for the future, and the club have agreed a deal with Lorient as they look to bring him to the Emirates.

Should Guendouzi come through his medical, he will become Unai Emery’s latest signing as Arsenal boss.
