Tim Akinola has now been spotted in Arsenal first-team training after it appeared he was set to leave the Emirates Stadium this summer.
Football London reported how Akinola was all set to leave Arsenal on loan to gain first team experience.
However, the move never materialised and the youngster may now not think that is a bad thing.
With many Arsenal players away on international duty, the 20-year-old has been called into senior training by Mikel Arteta.
First-team chance coming?
It is not yet known whether he has made a lasting impressing on the Spanish boss, but the opportunity is sure to be good for his development.
Akinola was a regular with Arsenal’s development side last season.
He plays as a defensive midfielder, and is renowned for having good energy and ability on the ball.
There is places up for grabs in Arsenal’s midfield, especially with Granit Xhaka suspended, but whether Arteta will trust in youth remains to be seen.
Arsenal are next in action against Norwich City, which looks like a pivotal game for Arteta’s future.
