So there’s good news and there’s bad news. The good news is that Tottenham Hotspur Women are on their way to the quarterfinals of the Women’s FA Cup after demolishing non-league Coventry United 5-0 at the wonderfully-named Butts Park Arena. Spurs got a hat trick from Rianna Dean (two penalties and a 90th minute goal), as well as goals from defenders Siri Worm and Lucia Leon in the win.
Making the FA Cup quarterfinals is an achievement, but with only eight teams remaining the odds were becoming very good that they’d draw someone scary in the next round. The draw happened midway through the match, and yep — Tottenham were drawn away to the winner of Arsenal vs. Lewes.
That’s the bad news.

Spurs were going to face one of the giants in the WSL eventually, but another North London Derby is a pretty daunting task. Spurs have already lost twice to Arsenal this season — 6-0 at the Gunners’ ground Meadow Park, and 2-0 at The Hive. The gap is narrowing between Spurs and Arsenal, but it’s still a pretty wide chasm and it would be a HUGE upset to knock them off at their place.
That’s assuming that Arsenal beat Lewes, but considering Lewes is playing in the second division FA Women’s Championship it’s a pretty safe bet. The match at (probably) Meadow Park will take place on Sunday, March 15
