The 26-year-old has been impressive for Diego Simone’s side in both La Liga and the Champions League this season and was instrumental in Atletico’s comeback against Jurgen Klopp’s men on Merseyside. Now in his fifth season in the Spanish top flight, Partey has proved he has what it takes to thrive at the very highest level.
Partey has been linked with a move to England before, with Manchester United among the teams reportedly interested. After watching him get one over on Liverpool, Arsenal fans will hope that Arteta’s transfer chase is a successful one.

22.15 GMT: Lazio have identified a pair of pending free agents to add to their ranks once the summer window opens, Gazzetta dello Sport reports, in Chelsea forward Olivier Giroud — who the Rome-based club tried to sign in January — and 30-year-old AC Milan midfielder Giacomo Bonaventura.
20.28 GMT: Fiorentina are preparing to offer attacker Federico Chiesa an additional year on his contract that expires in 2022, according to Gazzetta dello Sport, amid interest in the 22-year-old Italy international from Juventus and Inter.
18.41 GMT: The Times report that Manchester City have added a new face ahead of next season.
The Lawn Tennis Association performance director Simon Timson is set to join City this summer in the same position.
The 49-year-old is a very respected figure in the field of sports science and has also worked with UK Sport and the England and Wales Cricket board.
“I am incredibly excited about being able to join one of the world’s foremost sports teams and working with Pep and Txiki,” he said. “It is too early to talk specifics. I am going to be here [at the LTA] until the summer and my focus is on leaving the performance plan and the team in the strongest possible place.”
17.52 GMT: Chelsea are looking to secure a deal to sign Manchester United youngster Angel Gomes on a free transfer next season, according to the Metro.
The 19-year-old midfielder’s contract at Old Trafford runs out this summer and the player’s representatives are unwilling to put pen to paper on a new deal.
Gomes has only made six appearances this season and the newspaper reports that Chelsea boss Frank Lampard is keen to capitalise on the youngster’s uncertainty.
The Blues are reportedly willing to not only match United’s contract offer, but also offer Gomes more minutes with the first-team next season.
16.36 GMT: The Telegraph reports that England Women’s boss Phil Neville will remain in the job despite speculation surrounding his future.
There have been reports that Neville has considered resigning from his position after his side has suffered seven losses in their last 11 matches.
However, the Telegraph claims that the Football Association is confident the former Manchester United and Everton man will be at the helm for the foreseeable future.
15.08 GMT: Juventus forward Paulo Dybala is set to negotiate a new contract with the club, according to the Calcio Mercato.
The Argentina international was close to completing a move to the Premier League last summer with Manchester United and Tottenham interested.
Dybala decided to stay in Turin and his performances have encouraged Juve to open talks about a contact renewal.

14.10 GMT: Everton defender Djibril Sidibe is keen to extend his stay at Goodison Park.
The France international is on a season-long loan from Ligue 1 club Monaco but wants to remain in the Premier League next season.
“I had a discussion with Monaco,” Sidibe told RMC Sport. “They know my position and I know theirs. My goal is to play high-intensity matches and that’s what I’ve got in the Premier League.
“Regarding Everton, I have my position and I know what the coach wants. The coach appreciates me, he trusts me, although there are parameters that will come into play between Monaco and Everton that I can’t control.”
The Frenchman will always be remembered for forgetting his left sock in the dressing room before coming on as a substitute.
13.01 GMT: Goal reports incoming Chelsea signing Hakim Ziyech wants Ajax goalkeeper Andre Onana to join him at Stamford Bridge next season.
Chelsea are reportedly interested in the 23-year-old but will face some stiff competition from London rivals Tottenham and La Liga champions Barcelona.
Ziyech is desperate for his former teammate to join him next season. There has been uncertainty in between the sticks at Chelsea given the inconsistency of Kepa Arrizabalaga.
11.30 GMT: West Brom continue to take action against Barcelona, who have yet to pay any training compensation for Louie Barry. The teenager moved to the Camp Nou in the summer when his contract expired, and WBA were due £235,000. Barca have yet to pay a penny, despite controversially selling Barry to Midlands rivals Aston Villa for £800,000 in January.
10.23 GMT: Everton are being linked with a move for Torino’s Andrea Belotti. The striker is also being linked with AC Milan, AS Roma, Inter Milan and Napoli.
