Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta clarifies Granit Xhaka transfer situation amid Roma interest

[ad_1]

According to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Arsenal have offered the former Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder a two-year extension on his current deal which will include an increased salary.

Xhaka’s time at the north London club has never been short of controversy, which has resulted in the Switzerland international dividing opinion among supporters.

He was infamously booed off by Arsenal supporters during the Gunners’ draw with Crystal Palace in October 2019, prompting Xhaka to cup his ear, remove his shirt and storm down the tunnel at the Emirates.

This then led to him being stripped off the Arsenal captaincy one week later by manager Unai Emery, with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang selected as the new leader of the team.
