Transfer news LIVE!

The summer transfer window is in full swing as Europe’s top clubs step up their efforts to sign and sell players.

Arsenal have made one big move in £50m Ben White, and want another in Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martinez. Hector Bellerin could be used a makeweight, but Tottenham are said to also be interested should they sell Harry Kane to Manchester City… and Jack Grealish may be moving to the Etihad for £100m.

Sticking with the Gunners, Lyon’s Bruno Guimaraes is being touted as a potential alternative to Manuel Locatelli, while Martin Odegaard could make a return – but it would cost over £40m.

Manchester United have surprised everybody – and even their own fans – by making two key deals early on in pre-season. Jadon Sancho has arrived from Borussia Dortmund for £73million, while Raphael Varane has agreed to join from Real Madrid and just needs to complete his medical, which is likely to be on Monday.

Paul Pogba could be on the move though, but could delay his decision beyond this summer. PSG want him, while Mino Raiola has reportedly been cheeky and offered Pogba to Liverpool. PSG, meanwhile, face a fight of their own to keep Kylian Mbappe, with Real Madrid reportedly set to make their move this summer.

Erling Haaland is another top young forward whose future is unclear, but Man United are said to believe that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s new long-term contract makes a deal for the Dortmund star more likely next summer.

As for Chelsea, they want Erling Haaland to lead their attack, with Sevilla’s Jules Kounde their preference for a defender.

As for Liverpool, Manuel Locatelli, Saul Niguez, Youri Tielemans and Nicolo Barella are targets with Jordan Henderson’s future unclear, while Trent Alexander-Arnold has signed a new four-year deal at Anfield.

‘Spurs can match Kane’s ambition’

Ledley King believes Spurs can match Harry Kane’s ambition as the striker’s future remains in the balance.

King was not drawn on Kane’s future amid Man City’s interest, but insists Spurs are ambitious.

“We know he is one of the best strikers in the world. Harry is ambitious and I know the club is very ambitious,” he told PA.

“That is as far as it goes, I wouldn’t like to say what is going to happen next, all I know is the club is very ambitious and Harry is himself, so that’s it.”

Villa to accept £100m City offer for Grealish

Man City are clearly big fans of Jack Grealish – so much so that they could be about to pay a nine-figure sum for the Aston Villa captain.

Villa have set an asking price of £100m this summer, but that has not deterred the Premier League champions – and Sky Sports reports that Grealish’s club are set to accept a huge bid from City.

The £100m offer was reportedly made on Friday, and Sky says that while Villa have yet to respond to City, they are likely to accept it to make Grealish the most expensive transfer in British football history.

Losing Grealish would be a huge blow for Villa, but they are set to sign Leon Bailey and will have serious funds to reinvest in their squad at a time when rivals are struggling financially, so they could arguably head into the new season with a stronger squad overall.

Haaland advantage for Man Utd?

Sunday 1 August 2021 00:17 , Tom Doyle

Erling Haaland may be on the move this summer, but it would take a truly astonishing bid from Chelsea – likely in the £150m range – for Dortmund to sell their star man, especially after raking in £73m for Jadon Sancho.

It is far more likely that Haaland will be on his way in summer 2022 when his £65m release clause kicks in, and the Star reports that a new deal for Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer could prove decisive.

Solskjaer has signed a new long-term contract at Old Trafford, and boasts a fine working relationship with Haaland having coached him at Molde. United are said to be confident that in next summer’s bidding war, Solskjaer’s position of strength could give them the edge over their rivals.

Arsenal will have to pay £34m if they want to sign Lyon midfielder Bruno Guimaraes this summer.

That is according to Brazilian outlet Globo.com.

It is said that the Gunners were hoping to spend around £25m on the highly-rated 23-year-old, who is currently with Brazil at the Olympic Games.

Brazil beat Egypt 1-0 in Japan earlier on Saturday courtesy of Matheus Cunha’s goal and face Mexico in the semi-finals.

Liverpool target Bowen misses West Ham win

There was no Jarrod Bowen in the West Ham squad today as David Moyes’ side beat newly-promoted London rivals Brentford 1-0 in a friendly thanks to Said Benrahma’s excellent goal against his old club.

The absence of the former Hull star comes in the wake of reports suggesting he is being lined up for a move to Liverpool.

However, West Ham have since confirmed that Bowen missed out due to a minor injury issue.
